The Grand Parkway Commerce Center project consisted of construction of two single story industrial buildings. The buildings have footprints of approximately 173,045 square feet and 198,905 square feet. Each building is supported on underreamed drilled piers. The buildings have a six inch thick interior slab on grade installed over a minimum of two feet of select fill soil, as recommended in the geotechnical report. The buildings are enclosed with concrete tilt up wall panels of different thickness, as specified. The civil design is supported by standard and heavy duty concrete paving with a parking lot of approximately 810,000 square feet. Located in Katy, Texas, the buildings are designed for use as office, retail, and product distribution space.
Braun Intertec provided construction materials testing and compliance testing services which included Atterberg limits, percent passing the 200 sieve, pH, compaction characteristics tests, chemical stabilization and density testing of on site soils. The concrete was tested for slump, air, unit weight, and laboratory compressive strength at the specified ages for compliance.
